Restore – Take all existing federal laws/mandates, cross reference them with the constitution and remove those that do not comply. Not all of them are in compliance. (Patriot Act, War on Drugs, etc…)
Uphold – Once restoration is complete, enforce the constitution as the standard for new laws.
Defend – Defend it from being watered down with incompetent interpretation.

Individuals before government and states before federal rights. We need to get back to this balanced hierarchy by restoring civil liberties guaranteed in the Bill of Rights, reducing executive power and resisting a federal police state.

How much government waste would be eliminated if congresscritters had to actually follow the constitution. Read it sometime, it’s a very well written document that strictly limits the powers of government, for a very good reason too.

I’m opposed to this priority because it is ambiguous and could mean different things to different people who support it. The specific meanings of ‘support’, ‘uphold’ and ‘defend’ must be clarified or it is meaningless.

True, this priority is somewhat ambiguous -certainly the reason we have courts is because plaintifs regularly differ with defendants over interpretation of the constitution. However a vigorous public debate would be eddifying and informative and perhaps result in a much needed re-establishment of original constitutional principles.
