Expanding Senior Corp is a good use of our uptapped resources. Seniors has a wealth of knowledge and skills to share. Many retired Seniors have the commodity of time to give back to others; their peers or needy children.
The three existing Senior Corps programs need additional resources to expand and maintain the cost of operations.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to have a voice on the administrations priorities.

The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program is the best resource in little communities where money is very scarce. Volunteer sites served indicate that some activities would be eliminated without the services of volunteers. For instance, our local museums and senior centers operate strictly through volunteer services. Children in our elementary and secondary schools are receiving reading assistance and mentoring by caring adult volunteers. Where both parents are working to keep up with expenses, these volunteer resources are crucial to building a better future for all residents.

The Foster Grandparent Program supports the community by providing assistance to special needs children. This program is important for the the seniors who volunteer as well as the children they mentor and tutor.

The Senior Companion Program saves millions of healthcare dollars each year by keeping at risk seniors in their own homes as long as possible and out of institutions. More money and a broader reach is needed to make this program effective in all cities and counties of America!

Volunteerism is the most effcient and effective way to address many of the issues facing our communities today. By reinvigorating Senior Corps, a superior, well established volunteer management corps of programs, you are reducing duplication of services in a time when this type of commone sense approach makes perfect sense! We are relevant, reliable, and ready!!!

Senior Corps volunteers are one of our most valuable resources for tackling tough issues in local communities nationwide. Our seniors adults offer a lifetime of experience in terms of their skills and talents toward making a better America for everyone. We need additional funding for RSVP, Foster Grandparents, and Senior Companion Programs across the board. It’s time we listen to our people on Main Street and stop listening to Wall Street!

we need to improve the senior corps programs, I was in for 8yrs in Mn., when I moved to another state, I was told quote( I made to much money to be in the program, this being the Foster Grandparent program. Really we got paid $2.65 an hour for doing the same things a paraprofesional does, go figure, lets change this so good people who what to work to help our youth can do it, and at the same time add a f3ew dollars to there small soc. sec income. all the senior corps programs need to be improved ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Retired Americans have a wide range of skills and knowledge to contribute to local and national public service efforts. Obama and Biden will engage more interested seniors into public service opportunities by expanding and improving programs like Senior Corps to connect seniors with quality volunteer opportunities.
